Royalty

I had a vision of a rainbow but it was vertical almost like lines of an army marching in rank. Purple led the way and yellow stood out among the others.

By the Spirit, I knew that God is trying to tell the body to take up the position of royalty that He died to give them.

Revelation 1:5-6

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 2:9-10

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Isaiah 61:6

But you shall be named the priests of the Lord, They shall call you the servants of our God. You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, And in their glory you shall boast.

Isaiah 62:3

You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

*And my personal favorite- Proverbs 31 (before the big, bad verses on being an awesome wife):

The sayings of King Lemuel—an inspired utterance his mother taught him.

2 Listen, my son! Listen, son of my womb! Listen, my son, the answer to my prayers! 3 Do not spend your strength on women, your vigor on those who ruin kings. 4 It is not for kings, Lemuel— it is not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, 5 lest they drink and forget what has been decreed, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights. 6 Let beer be for those who are perishing, wine for those who are in anguish! 7 Let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more. 8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. 9 Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

How is Jesus' Bride supposed to act like Kings and Priests when we're just ole' dirty rotten sinners and (hopefully) saved by grace on days when God is in a good mood and Jezebel isn't causing too much of a ruckus? Before we put our religious hats on, I'd like to relay a beautiful story from the book, Power From On High. Charles Wesley, the brother of John Wesley (the founder of the Methodist Church), is called "The Prince of Christian Poets" writing 6,000 hymns in a span of 50 years. That is equivalent to one hymn every three days for fifty years. Though he was born with this poetic genius, Charles did not write a single Gospel hymn until his rebirth. Ironically this occurred after he became a minister and missionary. From his journal he writes:

"“At eleven I awaked in extreme pain, which I thought would quickly separate soul and body. Soon after Peter Boehler came to my bedside. I asked him to pray for me. He seemed unwilling at first, but beginning very faintly, he raised his voice by degrees, and prayed for my recovery with strange confidence. Then he took me by the hand and calmly said : ‘You will not die now.’ I thought with- in myself : ‘I cannot hold out in this pain till morn- ing. If it abates before, I believe I may recover.' He asked me: ‘Do you hope to be saved?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘For what reason do you hope it?’ ‘Because I have used my best endeavors to serve God.’ He shook his head and said no more. I thought him very un- charitable, saying in my heart: ‘What? Are not my endeavors a sufficient ground of hope? Would he rob me of my endeavors? I have nothing else to trust to.”

A few weeks later Wesley thus refers to another of the many visits of Peter Boehler : “No sooner was I got to James Hutton’s, having removed my things thither from his father’s, than the pain in my side returned, and with that the fever. Having disappointed God in His last visita- tion, He has now again brought me to the bed of sickness. Towards midnight I received some relief by bleeding. In the morning Dr. Cockburn came to see me; and a better physician, Peter Boehler, whom God had detained in England for my good. He stood by my beside, and prayed over me, that now at least I might see the divine intention in this and my late illness. I immediately thought it might be I should again consider Boehler’s doctrine of faith; examine myself whether I was in the faith; and if I was not, never cease seeking and longing after it till I attained it.”"

We thank God for the Moravian, Peter Boehler, who dared to ask a missionary if he was saved. The more I study the Moravians, Jan Huss, and those who defied the Catholic Church, they all esteemed the Gospel message as supreme and prayer essential to any expectation of good. It is the simple faith in His finished work that gives us this glorious standing of royalty. Though we may sin, we are nonetheless royalty. It is in this state we are supernatural in our ability to love God and love others well. Love freely flows into our soul, allowing us to freely give it back. Look at the rivers of living water that came out of Charles Wesley! It is only because He first loved us.

As we allow the Sun of Righteousness [Malachi 4:2] to endow us as a royal priesthood, holy and acceptable in His sight, we will go out and frolic like well-fed calves. When we keep yellow, or the Sun, central in our lives, purple (or Kingship) will lead us victorious in bringing Heaven to Earth. Amen.

That was so inspiring! We are purple because yellow shed red. And…What you said, “…Peter Boehler, Who dared to ask a missionary if he was saved.,” struck me! There’s “good” and “fine” in blah religion, but the true seeker is left unsatisfied and disturbed with it, and won’t relent til he is hugging tight God’s truth with everything he’s got. Peter’s 2 simple questions stirred the pot inside Wesley and changed everything because God’s grace was at work. It’s amazing.
