Look Up Child

"If you look at the world, you'll be distressed. If you look within, you'll be depressed. If you look at God you'll be at rest." -Corrie ten Boom

There are times we come across giants that are so big they make us feel helpless. Yet, of all the places in the Bible that offer strength I found my answer in

Zechariah 5.

“Then the angel who talked with me came out and said to me, “Lift your eyes now, and see what this is that goes forth.” So I asked, “What is it?” And he said, “It is a basket that is going forth.” He also said, “This is their resemblance throughout the earth: Here is a lead disc lifted up, and this is a woman sitting inside the basket”; then he said, “This is Wickedness!” And he thrust her down into the basket, and threw the lead cover over its mouth. Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were two women, coming with the wind in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and heaven. So I said to the angel who talked with me, “Where are they carrying the basket?” And he said to me, “To build a house for it in the land of Shinar; when it is ready, the basket will be set there on its base.””

‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭5‬:‭5‬-‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬

In the KJV, it says ephah instead of basket. An ephah is equivalent to a 5 gallon bucket. So Wickedness (uppercase), The Really Big Evil Giant, is so small it can fit in a 5 gallon bucket. Right before this passage, Zechariah puts the small size of the basket into even bigger perspective as it lays out the unusually large dimensions of the scroll. The collective wickedness of the people of the land (represented by a small woman) was small enough to be thrust in a bucket and carried off to where she came from.

The two stork birds carried this basket to Shinar. This was where Babylon was found. Babylon was the place of the Israelites recent captivity. It's where the Tower of Babel was made, where Achan had stolen a beautiful cloak from that led to judgement. Shinar is often a place where idolatry, temptation, and judgement take place.

A couple years ago, I had a dream of a very large man with his shirt off sitting down. All I could see was his back. He represented the spirit of religion, the pharisaical bars of iron found in some Christians today. There was nothing I could do to move this mountain of a man at ease, sitting with his shirt off like he'd been there for centuries. In my second dream, it was the same scene, but this time I had a tiny little sewing pin. All I did was push the pin in the man's back and he popped into thin air. The giant man, that had been there for centuries, vanished.

When we pray for wickedness to leave, God thrusts it out into its tiny little bucket with a lead lid where it can't get out and carries it away. We pray. He works!

Where are You now

When darkness seems to win?

Where are You now

When the world is crumbling?

Oh I, I-I-I, I hear You say

I hear You say

Look up child, ayy

Look up child, ayy

Where are You now (where are You?)

When all I feel is doubt?

Oh, where are You now

When I can't figure it out?

Oh I, I-I-I, I hear You say

I hear You say

Look up child, ayy

Look up child, ayy

Look up child, ayy

Look up child, ayy

Look up

You're not threatened by the war

You're not shaken by the storm

I know You're in control

Even in our suffering

Even when it can't be seen

I know You're in control

Oh I, I-I-I, I hear You say

I hear You say

Look up child, ayy

Look up child, ayy

Look up child, oh-oh-oooh

I hear You say, You say, You say

Look up child, ayy

I hear You say, You say, You say (look up, look up, look up, look up)

Look up child, oh-ooh, ooh, oh-oooh

I hear You say, You say, You say

Look up child, ayy

I hear You say, You say, You say (look up, look up, look up, look up)

Look up child

(I hear You say, You say, You say)

I hear You, I hear You calling my name, oh (look up child, ayy)

I hear You say, You say, You say (look up, look up)

Look up child, ayy

Look up child, ayy

Look up
