Benjamin

Updated: Jan 5, 2023

When I think of Benjamin I think of FAVORED/EXCESSIVE GRACE/BEYOND OUR ABILITY TO ASK THINK OR IMAGINE.

"Then the sons of Israel did so; and Joseph gave them carts, according to the command of Pharaoh, and he gave them provisions for the journey. He gave to all of them, to each man, changes of garments; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of garments.

Genesis 45:21‭-‬22

*5 in Hebrew means grace.

Joseph and Benjamin had the same mom- Rachel, Jacob being their father. Joseph was NOT dead as Benjamin presumed most of his life but actually alive and essentially in charge of all of Egypt. That's family in high places! Benjamin assumed his only other brother was dead, though he had other half-siblings. Like Joseph, Jacob adored Benjamin. He was his only other child through Rachel- though Rachel died giving birth to Benjamin (meaning son of my right hand). Rachel tried to name him Benoni, meaning son of my sorrow, but Jacob changed it.

WE ARE THE BENJAMIN GENERATION.

The Blessing of Abraham is ours because of Jesus (see Galatians 3). If you ever want to assert your authority it's good to start with saying, "I serve the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." This is equal to saying I serve Jesus. My point is, it is through Rachel that THE BLESSING runs through- not through man's effort (Rachel's handmaid Hagar) or even Leah or Zilpah. Our blessing is through Jacob and Rachel. This is obvious just reading through Genesis but the New Testament affirms this as well.

That being established, Rachel had two sons: Joseph and Benjamin. Benjamin was the last born. Many say we are the last generation before the rapture. The only other prediction before the rapture noted in the Bible is Israel becoming a nation which happened on May 14, 1948. It is my understanding we will see a wealth transfer to God's people, just like the Israelites did on their Exodus from Egypt, before the rapture.

Recently as I was reading the Bible, this verse jumped out at me. I've never heard anyone preach on this subject and it's the whole pont of this blog entry...

“Benjamin is a ravenous wolf; In the morning he shall devour the prey, And at night he shall divide the spoil.”

Genesis 49:27 NKJV

This confirmed for me the mindset that we, being the Benjamin Generation, need to have. As the world seeks to take Jesus out in various ways, we need to be as a ravenous wolf. Careful we watch who is and how the devil is attacking and we stop the threat in its tracks. Nothing to fear, at night our spoil abounds overflowing. We freely share.

Yes we are rich with MATERIAL wealth, praise God! We are also stealthy hunters, not letting the devil get a foothold in our families to start with, in our communities/schools, in our country, and in this world. Genesis 49:27 is a NOW word for The Body of Christ. Like Moses on the night of the Passover when they didn't have time to let the bread rise, like Paul Revere on his Midnight Cry "The British are coming!", we need to be stalking the enemy and stopping the attacks- however that looks for you, big or small.
